The shafts of light in Antelope Canyon occur when the sun is at a low angle, such as in the early morning or late afternoon. During these times, the sunlight filters through the narrow canyon walls and creates a mesmerizing play of light and shadow. The shafts of light that occur in the canyon are created when the sunlight passes through openings or openings in the canyon walls and illuminates the canyon floor.
