Framed Photography - Antelope Canyon
'Cave of Angels' - Page - Arizona - USA
Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon located in the southwestern United States, on the Navajo Nation in northeastern Arizona. It is known for its distinctive red rock formations and winding sandstone walls, which have been shaped over time by wind and water erosion. Antelope Canyon is a popular tourist destination and is known for its stunning beauty, particularly in the way that the sunlight filters through the narrow canyon walls and creates a mesmerizing play of light and shadow.
Antelope Canyon is divided into two sections: Upper Antelope Canyon and Lower Antelope Canyon. Upper Antelope Canyon is the most popular and is known for its wide, open spaces and towering walls. Lower Antelope Canyon is narrower and darker, and is known for its twisting, winding passageways. Both sections of the canyon offer a unique and unforgettable experience for visitors.
Antelope Canyon is located on the Navajo Nation, and tours of the canyon are offered by Navajo-owned companies. It is a sacred site for the Navajo people and is considered a place of spiritual power.
Only accessible with a Navaho guide, it is challenging to get a good large format photograph here. The guides rush you through and there are people everywhere, all trying to do the same thing. Nevertheless, I managed to a few good shots here, all at large format which look stunning at the larger sizes.
