Description
Photographing a skyline facing west at sundown presents a challenge because the bright sky behind the buildings creates a high contrast scene, often leaving the buildings in shadow. This backlighting effect can make it difficult to capture details in the darkened structures without overexposing the sky. In contrast, shooting a skyline to the east at this time benefits from the low sun casting warm, even light on the buildings, enhancing their visibility and detail while maintaining balance in the exposure. In this case I had to wait for the precise time when the sun had gone down enough to show the city lights whilst still having enough ambient light to show the detail of the buildings. This is also a challenging timing exercise as photographing such a large panorama takes well over 10 minutes by which time the light has changed significantly. By using a combination of bracketed exposures and increasing the shutter speed for each panorama tile, I was able to create a more light balanced image that truly shows off the grandeur of this magnificent skyline.

This is a rights managed license to use this image for 1 specific project. Typical useage would be for an extremely large print in an office lobby by printing directly on to glass or by using
photographic wall paper. Our images are of extremely high resolution and will still remain pin sharp at these large sizes. Simply printing a standard resolution photograph at these sizes will result
in a blurry image that will magnify all the imperfections which will reflect badly on the establishment.
When you license one of our images, you will be supplied with the high resolution file for printing on to whatever medium you choose. Licensing prices start from $650.00 depending on the final print
